I am finally getting a chance to post about the Motion City Soundtrack show, with Hellogoodbye and Driver Friendly! This show was on Wednesday, February 11th at House of Blues in San Diego, CA.
I wasn't sure if I was going to make it to the show. Luckily, things ended up working out perfectly and I was able to go. The show was great.
I started up by meeting up with my friend Cait - she was in the front and I was in the photo pit so it was nice to have someone to talk to while waiting for the bands to go on. Unfortunately, she was sick... with the flu. She didn't know it yet. However - she passed it along to me and I ended up in the urgent care with a lot of breathing problems and a fever of 103 degrees a few days later. So, even though the show was awesome - maybe it wasn't quite worth it.
So, this band called Driver Friendly opened... I hadn't heard them before - but they had good energy and were a good band to warm up to for the rest of the night.
I used to see Hellogoodbye a lot about a decade ago - they were always playing with my favorite bands and stuff like that. This show was weird because I thought that I would know at least a couple of the songs that they played this time around - but seriously I only knew "Here (In My Arms)". However, that's probably because before this show, the last time that I saw Hellogoodbye was October 24, 2008 at The Epicentre in San Diego, CA.
It would have been nice to know a couple songs - but they were much better than I remember them being live. So overall it was better than I expected from them (not to put them down or anything).
MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK
So - when I was about 11-years-old Motion City Soundtrack was my favorite band. My sister would drive me around town and we would listen to the little sampler of "The Future Freaks Me Out" and "My Favorite Accident" on repeat for forever. It was always good.
So this show was super nostalgic for me to begin with - but let's not forget it was the Commit This To Memory 10-year-anniversary tour! They started off the set playing that from front to back - I actually have a picture of the set list that I'll include in here.
Anyway - they played great. They were super tight and had tons of energy, as usual. Let's get down to the pictures...
The first, and only, time I've ever crowd-surfed was at MCS playing Vans Warped Tour in 2005... I was 13. So, I feel like it's necessary to post a picture of someone crowd-surfing.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this post. I probably should have edited these pictures a little more - but since I've been super busy this will cut it, right?
