Jim Adkins & Reubens Accomplice (2.22.15 & 2.27.15)

In February Reubens Accomplice & Jim Adkins from Jimmy Eat World, put on a last minute, five show, acoustic, tour that traveled through California. This was a really huge deal because Reubens Accomplice hardly ever plays shows and they are completely incredible. If you haven't heard their music - you really need to check them out. I was lucky enough to go to two out of five of these shows. Which happened to be the first show of the tour and the last show of the tour.

Bar Pink | San Diego, CA | 2.22.15

On Sunday, February 22, the tour came to San Diego, CA. They played at a small bar in North Park called Bar Pink. My sister, her husband, and our friend Dalley came out from Utah, while some of our other friends came down from Anaheim. Before the show we got to do a lot of stuff that you can read about here.

We got to the show as Reubens Accomplice was sound checking. We picked up some drinks and got our spots in the front. The venue had to kick everyone out and make us re-enter so that they could make sure everyone had tickets. It was kind of a pain in the ass - but we got our spots back.

Reubens Accomplice

The first time I saw Reubens Accomplice was in like February of 2005 and I was twelve. My sister lied and said it was my birthday so that they would play "America You Look Good" - which is totally cool because it's a really good song.

Anyway, since that day, Reubens has been one of my favorite bands. I've seen them a dozen or more times and they always put on an amazing show.

Reubens did their thing and even played a new song. Jim Adkins came up and sang on "Act On (Feeling Alone)" and "I'm Leaving" which are both incredible songs. The lighting at this venue is super pink - which I guess makes since since it's called Bar Pink. But here are pictures:

Jim Adkins (Jimmy Eat World)

The first time I actually saw Jim Adkins perform was at an acoustic show in Tempe, AZ with Reubens Accomplice & The Format for his label Western Tread on May 8, 2006. I had just turned fourteen and was missing school to be there. All my memories from that trip are super amazing except for this shitty restaurant we ate at - but that's an entirely different story.

I guess I'll just start the pictures now:

After the show we got to hang out with everyone for a while. It was super, super fun. Patrick from Limbeck made it out and we got to catch up with him for a while.

So here's pictures from hangs:

The Wayfarer | Costa Mesa, CA | 2.27.15

On Friday, February 27, 2015, I drove up to Anahiem to meet up with Michelle to go to the very last show on the Reubens Accomplice & Jim Adkins tour. She had fallen alseep and I was locked out of her house for about 45 minutes until I finally made enough noise to wake her. Ian got off work early and was meeting us at the venue so we took an Uber to the show. We got there at pretty much at the exact same time so it worked out perfectly. I talked to some guys in the front and convinced them to scoot over a bit so I could take some pictures for the show. This show was great but I didn't get to watch a lot of Jim Adkins set, unfortunately.

I was hoping the lighting would be better at this show than the one in San Diego, but I still had to crank up to 1600 ISO and let my shutter drag more than I'd like. The lighting was a little better for Jim Adkins set but I only stayed up there for a few songs.

Also, the crowed really sucked at this venue. They were super loud and talkative throughout the entire show - even throughout Jim Adkins set.

Reubens Accomplice

Reubens went up and played they're set. They took out "Underneath the Golden Grain" and replaced it with a new song - which is awesome but also devistating because that is one of my absolutely all time favorite songs in the entire world. The set was awesome because Patrick Carrie, from Limbeck, accompanied them by playing the petal steel guitar. We were able to plug into the soundboard and record the entire set - and it sounds perfect. So pictures from Reubens set:

Jim Adkins (Jimmy Eat World)

Lots of my friends were hanging out in the back of the bar for Jim Adkins set. So after a couple songs, I went in the back to hang out with all of them. It was Robb's birthday and we never get to see him so it was good catching up with everyone. Anyway, here's the pictures I did get during his set:

The rest of the show was mostly just hanging out with everyone. We forgot to take group photos though - which totally sucks! Anyway, if you made it all the way to the end of this long blog you're incredibly awesome and I love you.
